Terrible News

Since I live here now, Chicago is like home so its upsetting to hear this.

One Dead, Four Wounded Following Shooting on CTA Bus
CHICAGO - A teenage boy was killed and four girls were wounded when a gunman opened fire on a Chicago Transit Authority bus today on the city's South Side (near 103rd and Lowe).

Hospital spokeswoman Deb Song says 16-year-old Blair Holt died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was taken there after the shooting.

The four female victims were all listed in fair condition.

Police spokesman John Mirabelli says all the victims were teenagers.

Police say a lone, armed offender boarded the bus and fired multiple shots. The male suspect then exited the bus and ran away from the scene.

No suspects were in custody.

Courtesty of KTTC

My Friend actually called me this morning to see if I was alive. I live by 21st so I'm South but not THAT SOUTH. It is a very segregated city and there are a lot of gang related deaths. But they usually don't bother people who aren't in gangs.

Deadweight has been Lifted

Monday: Went to see Leslie at the Library, volunteered and talked for 3 hours. Hopped a train than a bus and went to Lakeview to take my Belly Dancing class.Read My Hips is the name of the group. After the class I spoke with the instructor for 2 hours. Went to Walgreens and got food and went home. I was out for 12 hours straight.

Wednesday: Went to check out an apartment, it was in a really good location but it wasn't even a room, it was a one bedroom and I would live in the common area, the whole place made me claustrophobic. Next I realized how close I was to Beatnix and dropped off my resume hopefully they call.

30 DAY CHALLENGE
A few pieces of advice for those courageous souls who are taking the 30-day challenge:

1) Focus on actions, not results. It’s easier to guarantee that you exercise every day vs. trying to lose a certain amount of weight. It’s easier to guarantee that you write for an hour vs. finishing a page of text. Of course you want to select actions that you feel will give you positive results, but the main point of this challenge is to condition a new habit or to decondition a bad habit. In the long run, it’s the habit that will produce results.

2) Make it specific and measurable. Be specific in how you describe your new daily action such that an independent observer who watched you could say with complete certainty whether or not you succeeded. If your new habit is to “eat more fruits and vegetables,” that’s too vague. “Eat at least 5 six-ounce servings of fruit or vegetables each day” is better. It’s easier to succeed when you have a specific target; you’re more likely to fall off course when the target is too general. You need to know with total certainty whether you hit your target each day — don’t allow any room for rationalizations. Make it binary. Either you hit the bullseye or you didn’t.

3) Don’t give up. If you miss your target one day, start over at day 1 with the goal of making it further on your second attempt.

4) Expect to succeed. Intend and expect that you’ll make it through the whole 30 days and will share your success story on May 20. In fact, go ahead and intend for everyone doing this to succeed. Sometimes people get better results with a group than they do with individual efforts.

Lessons in Life

*I'm drinking Darjeeling Tea*

I recall the book I read when I was in elementary school I think I was in 4Th or 5Th grade.

It's called the Dark is Rising. Funny it just came to me the title and I now learn they are turning it into a movie. Funny when I started reading The Rum Diaries, that too will be a movie. Every time I pick up a book it seems it will be turned into a movie.

So before I went to work I stopped by Millennium Park to see the Dalai Lama. I bet it was an amazing thing to witness but I didn't get to see or hear much. Then I figured out I went to work at the wrong time. I was supposed to be there at 12-4 but for some reason I thought 1-8:30. It was because that's what I worked last night. So I stayed from 1-5.

After that I stopped by the Chicago Cultural Museum because its free and its right down the street from work. I walked around and looked at as many things as possible. I came to an exhibit where you write a letter about your unexpressed emotions. It can be to anyone and you can seal it or leave it open.

I wrote a letter. On the front I addressed it to "My Own Unexpressed Emotions". I sealed it shut. It was a nice thing because there was a mat to sit on so it was like I was meditating. It felt nice to just get all of that out there.

I also entered Molly into this contest, where you get to spend the night at the Museum. There are two twin beds side by side and if you win you get to spend the night in one bed next to an artist. I think it sounds interesting enough. Kinda reminds me of the "Lock ins" we used to do in Girl Scouts. Where you would get locked in a school and sleep there overnight. You get to stay up all night and watch movies and play games etc. I remember chilling in the library that was the best part. They showed us how to make Tang etc. I learned a lot of interesting things and
I fell asleep watching a movie.

So then I get home and everyone else starts coming home and me, dave, mitchell were hanging out drinking gin and juice. We went to pick up Molly hours later and she is staying the night at our place cause dave and her both have court in the morning.
They got arrested for protesting, I would have too but I went home because I think the whole thing is retarded.

I finished reading A Piece of Cake, it was pretty good. I liked how they have critical thinking questions in the back of the book.

I'm looking for a second job because I am not getting any more than 20 hours on average and I need to move out asap. I started talking more to my co-workers and finding out about them. I really like my job.

It turns out I'm too old to read some of the stuff I've read in high school.

I need some sort of amazing thing to happen right about...... NOW!
